Compelling portraits drawn on vintage envelopes (13 images)
These incredible portraits were drawn by artist Mark Powell on authentic vintage envelopes. The illustrations themselves are great, and the weathering of the faces is both intriguing and a little unsettling. The antique nature of the stationary adds an extra layer of depth and lends the portraits a sense of importance and finality.
Taking a relatively simple and common concept (portraiture) and turning it on its ear in such a way is what modern art is all about, it’s about daring to look at things differently.
